It is now over 20 years ago since the sovereignty of Hong Kong transferred from British to Chinese rule. The occasion was officially marked by the Hong Kong handover ceremony on the night of 30 June 1997. The event was internationally televised. Representatives for the United Kingdom included HRH The Prince of Wales and Tony Blair, who was Prime Minister at the time.

Here is a clip from the ceremony, including performances from British military bands as well as a farewell speech from HRH Prince Charles on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
