Earlier this month, The British Band Instrument Company (BBICO) exhibited at their first virtual music conference – WoodwindFest 2020!
What is WoodwindFest?
WoodwindFest 2020 is a non-profit event created to bring innovative products to musicians all over the world, in the comfort of their own homes. Participants are able to attend live performances, masterclasses and discussion panels, as well as visiting virtual trade booths from exhibitors showcasing their woodwind instruments and accessories. In addition, participants received a 10% discount on all purchases through the WoodwindFest shop. This year’s event took place from the 14th to 18th October, during which there were 1,700 registered visitors from the US, Canada, Brazil, the UK, Spain, and more, attending over 50 performances and seminars.
How to access WoodwindFest content?
The Concert Hall and Conference Hall are currently still open, so performances and masterclasses are still available to be viewed. This includes Luke and Hannah’s seminar on “How to Look After Your Woodwind Instrument”. They start by introducing BBICO and Edgware, which you can learn more about by clicking here. They then discuss WHY it’s so important to look after your instrument, before working their way through questions submitted by WoodwindFest attendees. From mouthpiece sanitisation to sticky keys to maintaining the health of corks – lots of bases covered!
BBICO at future trade shows?
It’s safe to say that there has been nothing normal about this year, and that goes for trade shows too. WoodwindFest was a great introduction to the virtual trade show space for us, and we have definitely learnt a lot from our experiencing exhibiting online for the first time. The next big date in our diaries is NAMM’s “Believe in Music” Week which we are thoroughly looking forward to. Having exhibited at NAMM for the very first time last year, we are disappointed to not be heading back to the Anaheim Convention Centre in January 2021. Having said that, NAMM’s online alternative is shaping up to be something pretty special. We’re looking forward to creating new content, launching new products, and even going onto Pacific Standard Time for the week! Will we see you there?
